Default Bandage (2010)

Directed by Takeshi Kobayashi (of Mr. Children fame), this Shunji Iwai story about early nineties Japanese rock stars Jin Akanishi (formerly of KAT-TUN) as lead singer of the band in question, Lands. The synopsis from IMDB:

Quote:
In the 90s there was a decade of indie rock bands in the japanese culture. Bandage tell a fictional story four boys whose friendship and musical talents are tested in the ever changing world of music industry and their experience in love and hardship in real life.

This came out in January this year (alongside a brilliant retro '90s indie-rock soundtrack "by" the band called OLYMPOS), but it just got its Japanese DVD release this week. The soundtrack, its first single, and the film all hit number one in the respective charts on their opening weeks, and it would appear DVD sales will land it there as well this week. Have others seen this? Are there any J-rock/indie fans who can comment on its accuracy of the era? I am mostly just in love with Jin Akanishi (who has gone solo and made appearances doing new music in the States ahead of his first proper album) but I kind of loved it, even if the middle section seemed a bit confused narrative-wise.

(Also, as someone born in the mid-eighties, I have begun to accept that we are now nostalgic for an era I lived through, which officially means I have entered adulthood.)
